Our Mission 

At Government V&H.S.S for the Deaf, we hold ourselves to the highest possible standard. We believe that all students deserve an outstanding education, fit exactly to their needs. Government V&H.S.S for the Deaf instills confidence and broadens opportunities by giving each student the skills they need to succeed.

For years, the caring community of Government V&H.S.S for the Deaf has educated students with special needs, as well as unique abilities and backgrounds. We provide an individualized approach that offers support and facilitates attainable opportunities. Every program that Government V&H.S.S for the Deaf offers enhances the lives and expands the futures for all our students, and their families as well.

History 

The Andha Badhira Vidyalaya started in 1942 by Shri. Devanesan at Panavila, Trivandrum , Kerala. In 1957, the State Government took over and moved it to a new location near DPI Junction, on Kukilyar Lane. Over the years, it evolved, becoming a Technical High School in 1980 and a High School in 1986.

In 1989, the school underwent a significant change, splitting into sections for blind and deaf students. More sections were added – a VHSE section in 1995 and an HSS section in 1997. The school also expanded its reach by introducing pre-primary education in 1999.

Today, it proudly holds the title of the largest special school in the government sector in Kerala, with twenty-nine specially trained teachers for deaf students at all levels.

Facilities 

Spread across a spacious 3.5 acres, the school encompasses three main buildings solely devoted to the academic growth of our exceptional students, along with a girls' and boys hostel. Moreover, the school boasts facilities such as a printing press, clothing embroidery labs, plumbing labs, computer labs, a mini gym, and more, all regularly utilized to foster valuable skills for the future. Additionally, the school prioritizes student well-being by offering a park, playground, and canteen, ensuring their health and happiness.
